At Grand Isle, life in the Republic of Vermont is exemplified in the restored 1783 Hyde Log Cabin, built by Connecticut native Jedediah Hyde, Jr., heir to the namesake of Hyde Park, Connecticut. It is considered one of the oldest log cabins in the US. Also on site is a log one-room Schoolhouse.
